Combing two walks from the HIDDEN PATHS - Walking Historical Kyoto books, this guided walk starts on the east side of Kamo River by Sanjo Bridge and unveils the residences of a number of prominent rebels and assassins from the period as well as battle sites and the history of Kiyamachi Street and the Takase River that runs alongside it. You'll discover the story behind the statue of the bowing man and why he's facing the old Imperial Palace, who really killed the Meiji revolutionary Sakamoto Ryoma, sword blade marks left behind after the Ikeda-ya attack, and much more secret hidden history of the area. Prices for the guided walk starts from ¥10,000 for a one person guided walk with price person decreasing dependent on the number of people taking part in the walk.
